About Me

Manidipa was born into a musical family with a long tradition of classical music. She was honored with First Class First diploma in music, from Surangama Music school of Sri Shailajaranjan Majumder. She underwent many years of rigorous training under the guidance of Sri Subinoy Roy and Smt. Maya Sen. She is also received a diploma with disntinction in Indian Classical music. For a while, she was also, a disciple of Ustad Ali Akhbar Khan. Currently, she is learning from another legend , Dr. Sisirkona Dhar Chowdhury.

Manidipa was honored with Plaque of Honor from Ustad Vilayat Khan in Maryland University, USA for Rabindra Sangeet. She also received a prestigiousUttamkumar award for Rabindra Sangeet in Calcutta.

Manidipa had been performing Rabindrasangeet for the All India Radio, Calcutta, and Doordarshan Kendra, Calcutta. She was invited in BigFMCalcutta talk show to talk and perform various genre of songs, starting Rabindrasangeet to classical to Bengali light music to Hindi pops. She was invitee inNew York Indian Radio talk show, to sing and talk about Bengali songs.

Manidipa performed and organized various programs in Calcutta, Atlanta, New Jersey, Houston, Las Angeles, Maryland, New Orleans and San Francisco Bay Area. Critics, including The Telegraph, The Statesman, Anandabazar Patrika, Bartaman and Desh, appreciated her Rabindrasangeet performance. She has also excelled in Semi-Classical and Modern Hindi and Bengali Songs. Her three CDs are well appreciated by several musicians in Calcutta.

She is a Chemical Engineer and by profession, she currently works in software field in San Francisco Bay Area. But her professions never hold back her dedication towards music. She relentlessly performs and organizes musical events. She also started not-for-profit “Musical Evening”  group(www.musicalevening.com) to organize music and performing art events in Bay Area to raise money for charity. She is loved and respected by many music lovers all over.

These events also help promote Indian Music in Bay Area, California.

She was also successful in organizing unique Fashion shows with Live music, called, 'Utsav-e Bangaleer Saj-o-Sojja' and 'Reetu Utsav', which portrayed the Unique combination of Music, Dance and Fashions from Bengal, India and Bangladesh.

Recently, she was selected as a cultural lead  which had a huge success in coordinating a two days Tagore Festival along with 'Sanskriti' to pay tribute to a great Indian poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Two day festival included Professional artists and dignitaries from India, Bangladesh as well as all over USA. Hundreds of Local Talents participated in a mesmerizing 'Opening ceremony' lead by  , Ms.Manidipa Bhattacharya. 'Teen Konya' a trilogy of Tagore Dance Dramas, which was one of the key events of the Tagore Festival, organized by 'Musical Evening'. It was said to be as one of the best dance dramas in Bay Area organized so far. Manidipa was the Music Director and the co-ordinator of the show also the lead singer. Her recent performance in a unique fusion music, called 'Fuzion Muzik' where Eastern music met the Western music, was said to be a superb performance by the audience.
